A Shore Thing by Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi

Summary (from goodreads): Giovanna “Gia” Spumanti and her cousin Isabella “Bella” Rizzoli are going to have the sexiest summer ever. While they couldn’t be more different—pint-size Gia is a carefree, outspoken party girl and Bella is a tall, slender athlete who always holds her tongue—for the next month they’re ready to pouf up their hair, put on their stilettos, and soak up all that Seaside Heights, New Jersey, has to offer: hot guidos, cool clubs, fried Oreos, and lots of tequila. Review: One review I read, before reading the book myself, said that this was like Jersey Shore fan-fiction and I have to agree.  Just like the show it was like a car wreck that you can't turn away from even though you know it's going to be bad.  I have to admit I liked the story, I don't know if it says anything about my taste in books at the moment but *shrug* I honestly had a hard time putting the book down, I wanted to know what kind of situations the cousins were going to get themsel

February Book Club

This month's book club was a chocolate tasting and book browsing.  It was a push to try to sign up more people to join the group.  We seem to always get women to show up for one meeting but they don't come back.  So hopefully we were able to talk some women into joining and I think we made a good impression on a few of them.  Keeping my fingers crossed. For March we choose to read Eloisa James' book When Beauty Tamed the Beast which is the second book in her Fairy Tale series.  We are going to discuss both books at that meeting since we have yet to discuss January's book which was the first book in her Fairy Tale series, A Kiss at Midnight.

January Reading Review

Book Club We read "A Kiss at Midnight" by Eloisa James, but our meeting was canceled due to snow.  I didn't really write a review for the book this month I just wasn't feeling it but I'll write something after we talk about the book at our Feb. meeting. 2011 Support your Local Library Challenge This challenge is to check out books to support the library.  I felt this challenge would be easy, I work at  library and belong to my local library which isn't part of the county library system.  I didn't want to be over confident so I set my bar low and signed up for the Mini which requires checking out 30 books in 2011.  I'm happy to say I checked out 5 books in January, 4 from work and 1 from my local library.  Three of the books were part of the other reading challenges I'm working on so it's perfect. Men in Uniform 2011 Reading Challenge I originally thought I would be in the Captain level reading between 11-15 books about men in uniform.
