Peek Inside a Book - Dance Upon the Air

When I was deciding to come back to the blog I was looking through all the blogging memes that the blogs I read follow. I had done Book Beginnings and The Friday 56 a handful of times, but over at  Mixed Book Bag , JC merged them together and I really like that idea.  So borrowing from her I'm going to start linking up to both Book Beginnings on Friday from  Rose City Reader  and The Friday 56 with  Freda's Voice . I just finished reading The Blinds by Adam Sternbergh. I really enjoyed it but when I got home from my book discussion Wednesday night I wanted a comfort read and not one of the 10 books currently checked out from the library. So I opened up the OverDrive App (great library service) and searched for what Nora Roberts titles were avaliable and ended up seeing that book 1 of the Three Sisters Island trilogy was free. I don't think I've re-read this series so it had to be checked out! This week the book Dance Upon the Air   by Nora Roberts...

Nora Roberts Reading Challenge - A Call for Help...

has been answered! Back in September I had posted A Call for Help in getting my hands on the last remaining Nora Roberts book on my backlist: Well a friend has come through and I am in possession of a copy of the book. She kindly checked it out of her local library and has lent it to me for her borrowing duration. I'll be reading the book this weekend! This is a great end to the year!

Reading Challenges Update

A friend posted on Facebook yesterday that we have just entered the last quarter of the year. (It's a little depressing.) Anyway I thought it would be a good idea to see where I stand with my Reading Challenges for 2013. Nora Roberts Reading Challenge I don't really set any goals with this one. I try to stay current on her new releases while putting  dent in her back list.  I've pretty much current (just need to read the novella and wait for the new series to start). I've read about 30 of her back list titles.  I read the MacGregors series. It also helps that they have been re-releasing her back list.  Of course it's two titles to a book so my overall book title count is lower (if I'm reading them in one book, it counts as one book). The 2013 TBR Challenge I started off strong with this one, and then hit a wall. I just couldn't get into the one book I picked up, and then everything just seemed to bump those books down the list. It looks like at least...

Late Halloween Themed Post about Werewolfs

In honor of Halloween I had wanted to read some appropriately themed books. (This post is late due to Super Storm Sandy and my own laziness.)   Moon Shadows by Nora Roberts My rating: 4 of 5 stars Just reading Wolf Moon for my Nora Roberts Reading Challenge. I have read everything published since 2004 (except for the books that haven't been released yet). I have to say I like how Nora Roberts seems to write these male characters who just worm their way into the woman's life.  Simone wants to keep her distance since she's been turned into a werewolf but Gabe just nudges his way into her life.  Together they end up working on a way to cure Simone of being a werewolf. Personally it's the first time I've read this concept of trying to cure the werewolf.  I've seen it done in TV shows and it never really goes far, but I like the way Nora worked with the concept.  Simone had been working on it but she just needed Gabe.  A fresh set of eyes, a medical ...

Nora Roberts Reading Challenge Update

I've read six books towards this challenge this year; three new books ( Celebrity in Death, The Witness , and The Last Boyfriend ), and three old books ( The Art of Deception, Impulse, and Temptation ). I just recently finished Impulse and Temptation in a 2-in-1 book called Windfall. Windfall: Impulse\Temptation by Nora Roberts My rating: 3 of 5 stars Impulse had the feel of a Harlequin romance novel.  It should be titled something like The Greek Billionaire's Summer Fling. I don't know, it just felt like that kind of story.  I liked Rebecca and Stephen but at a few different points I wanted to hit Rebecca.  I felt like if she was so smart she should have been able to put a few more things together and realize that Stephen was more than what she believed him to be, but *shrug* such is the case with romances. I liked Temptation a little bit more.  Eden and Chase were really great.  These two felt more like the Nora Robert's characters that I love. ...
