Book Blogger Hop - January 22 - 28

Book Blogger Hop Yes, I have 2, a Nook and a Kindle. I got a Nook first and started building a collection there and now it's mostly the home of my Nalani Singh Psy-Changling books and my Grace Burrows books.  I got a Kindle for the easy of checking out library ebooks.  I have Paperwhite.  I like that it's just an eReader and I won't get distracted by other apps or the Internet while reading. Otherwise I'd probably just read on my iPad or iPhone.

It's Monday! What are you reading? - January 25

Currently Reading: Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney Goodreads Summary:  It’s the last day of 1984, and 85-year-old Lillian Boxfish is about to take a walk. As she traverses a grittier Manhattan, a city anxious after an attack by a still-at-large subway vigilante, she encounters bartenders, bodega clerks, chauffeurs, security guards, bohemians, criminals, children, parents, and parents-to-be—in surprising moments of generosity and grace. While she strolls, Lillian recalls a long and eventful life that included a brief reign as the highest-paid advertising woman in America—a career cut short by marriage, motherhood, divorce, and a breakdown. A love letter to city life—however shiny or sleazy—Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney paints a portrait of a remarkable woman across the canvas of a changing America: from the Jazz Age to the onset of the AIDS epidemic; the Great Depression to the birth of hip-hop.  Little Thoughts :  This is a pick for my Meetup Grou

Flash Fiction Friday - Old Dog

This week's prompt for Indies Unlimited Flash Fiction Challenge Photo copyright K.S. Brooks.  Do not use without attribution. He sat there watching as the sign was erected. It was an all-day process that interrupted his morning nap, spoiled his lunch and now kept him from his afternoon nap. All that banging was making him antsy. With a sigh he laid his head down and shut his eyes. He’d try to fall asleep one more time before he’d just give up on napping today. No sooner had his eyes closed then he heard someone call his name. Maybe if he pretended he didn’t hear them they would leave him be. He snuggled down determined to get in at least one nap today, but they called him again. This time closer which only meant they were coming to get him and his dreams of a nap were officially over. He stood up slowly, his legs not as strong as the had been and made his way gingerly towards the name caller. “Wanna go see what I’ve been doing all morning?” He wanted to say no, he wan

Book Blogger Hop - January 15-21

Book Blogger Hop - January 8-14

Book Blogger Hop Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas.  It's a prequel to The Hate U Give, the story of Star's father. He was such an interesting character that I'm looking forward to reading his story.  A Bright Ray of Darkness by Ethan Hawke . I don't know why I keep reading his books, I never really like them but this one's on my list and I'll read it.  While Justice Sleeps by Stacey Abrams  I'm interested to read her fiction.  I'm also planning on going back to read her romance novels but this is her new novel using her real name! I'm sure there are more, but these are the first three I can think of!

It's Monday! What are you reading? - January 11

No you haven't clicked on the wrong button I'm pretty much still reading the same things I was last week.  The only change is I'm on a new season/story of Phoebe Read's a Mystery and there's a good chance by the time you are reading this post I'm on a completely different store.  Ever since the Pandemic hit, I just haven't been in the mindset to read.  I did burn through a book this week, Bleachers by John Grisham.  It's a short story and I finished it in two sittings, it was a book club book that I forgot about, but I really enjoyed it and will recommend it to anyone who is interested in sports.  Currently Reading: Asher's Garden  by Derek Rey Date Started:  January 1, 2021 Goodreads Summary:  Asher and his best friend, Lucie, are twelve years old and just starting the summer after their sixth grade year. Book Blogger Hop - January 1-7

Book Blogger Hop My goal for 2021 is to read 100 books.  I experienced a big reading slump in 2020 and while I did end up getting back into reading I'm still not where I was this time last year. It'll be nice to be able to just lose myself in a book instead of being pulled away to doom scroll on social media.

Little Thoughts :  I became friends with Derek on TikTok of all places.  I followed his journey of publishing his book.  I'm only a few chapters in but I'm enjoying the set up and believe I'm about to ent
