I didn't watch the show, but I thought the concept sounded interesting.  When we needed a book for our Romance Book Club I suggested GCB as a fresh/fun read.  I really was!

Characters - I loved the characters.  They weren't too over the top and they just seemed to go in the world Kim created. (1 star)

Plot - It was a good story, I couldn't put the book down. (1 star)

Setting/Accuracy - I don't know much about that area or lifestyle but I really feel that Kim did a great job of creating that world for me. It was completely believable to a point. (1/2 star)

Genre - I picked the book as a fresh/fun read and it was. It wasn't too corny, or to outlandish, there was the perfect mix of solid story and good fun. (1 star)

That extra something - The extra something for me was the budding relationship between Amanda and her "mystery man"  I wish a guy would try to woo me that way! That being said I would have liked maybe a chapter more to see them in more of a relationship. (1/2 star)


There was a 3/3 split in Book Club over who liked and who didn't like the book.

    Thanks! I always like to know what happens next in books, and I really would have liked to have seen Amanda happy in a more long term kind of way.

    I just loved your review! I couldn't agree more with all of your comments. And I too wish there was a chapter to sees glimpse into Amanda's relationship.

Nonfiction November: My Year in Nonfiction
