  This seems like a slow reading week but I had to finish reading  The Magnolia Story  since the book was due back at the library on Thursday. Then I realized that  Talking as Fast as I Can  is due back on Tuesday so I've been focusing on reading that book this weekend. My Soul Called Life How does this challenge work? For this challenge, Claudia at  My Soul Called Life  has chosen six keywords associated with each month in 2017. It seemed perfect, a YA novel (I can read these rather quickly) and a modern retelling of Hamlet (one of my favorite Shakespeare plays). I was sadly kind of disappointed in this novel. The story was told in 3 different ways. There was Ophelia on a talk show, that was Oprah-like, telling her story. Then there was the transcript of her interview with the police. When I was deciding to come back to the blog I was looking through all the blogging memes that the blogs I read follow. I had done Book Beginnings and The Friday 56 a handful of times, but over at Mixed Book Bag , JC merged them together and I really like that idea.  So borrowing from her I'm going to start linking up to both Book Beginnings on Friday from Rose City Reader and The Friday 56 with Freda's Voice . My little twist to this --> I work in a library IT department. We have two offices separated by a section of the fiction stacks.  Books are always catching my eye and I've gotten pretty good about ignoring them, other wise my TBR list would be HUGE.  But these weekly memes give them the chance to see if the book would be worth checking out. misogynist,   neophyte,   oblivious I went to my friends again this week about a length for this prompt. After hearing the words, a friend mentioned that it sounded like words describing a certain serial tweeter and I should style this week in tweets.  I liked that idea so I did some quick searching about writing stories as tweets.  I stumbled upon Nanoism.net , which features stories written in 140 characters. I thought I'd attempt to write something in 140 characters. Went out with a secret misogynist. He felt I was a neophyte and explained politics to me. I think he mistook my bland look as obliviousness!

Jockey,   Kindred,   Lopsided I asked my friends for a length I should aim for when writing this week. I got 6, 42, and 500.  Well I went with 6 and 42 for this prompt (and 500 for another writing prompt). So Sean clearly got the idea for 6 from Hemingway's 6 word story . So here's what he got: Horse and Jockey, kindred lopsided smile-ers. And Chris clearly went with 42, because what geek doesn't answer 42 (at least some of the time) when asked a question or for a number. Kindred winners with lopsided grins stand in the winner’s circle. Chester, the 2 year old colt and his longtime owner and jockey, Bob, won this weekend’s amateur race at Town Race Track. They will compete again next weekend at Other Town Track.

I went out and purchased this book the day it came out. I was so ready to read it, but before I could crack the cover people started with negative reviews and comments. I decided I didn't want to be influenced since like a lot of these other readers I was highly anticipating the novel. I placed the book back into my TBR Basket and sadly it just kept getting buried. When Shelia over at Book Journey (a new blog for me in 2016) announced her First Book - 2017 I was excited. Again, sadly I completely forgot to send in my picture for her post.
