My little twist to this; I work in a library IT department. We have two offices separated by a section of the fiction stacks. Books are always catching my eye and I've gotten pretty good at ignoring them, otherwise, my TBR list would be HUGE. But these weekly memes give them the chance to see if the book would be worth checking out.
This week the book Killer Chef by James Patterson with Jeffrey J. Keyes caught my eye.
It Begins:
It's a whisper past 10:00 p.m. in New Orleans' famous French Quarter, but it might as well be the middle of the day. The narrow streets were bustling with tipsy tourists and locals alike. From every bar and club waft the sounds of clinking glasses and tinkling jazz, filling the hot night air.
On Page 56:
"I'll tell you anything you want to know about my ex-husband." Andrea says, pouring steaming water for a fresh pot of black tea. "I read about his death this morning in the paper. I was stunned. But I won't life to you, Detective. I wasn't sad."
Verdict:
So I'll be checking this book out of the library tonight. While I'm not a huge Jame Patterson fan, I'm really liking these Bookshots. Since I'm behind in my yearly reading goal, short books like this are perfect for a little catch up. I also just got back from a vacation to New Orleans so the cover image and the plot got my attention. This is going to make a nice weekend read!
